As an artistic form, I’ve been fascinated with paper dolls lately. It’s art you’re meant to chop up and play with – little people you stick costumes on, who are completely at your mercy. We do the same to each other – projecting roles, stereotypes, and more often than not our own fears onto the bodies of our fellow human beings. Fragile, paper-thin garments that burden us all the same, unless we tear free or cling to them with pride and make them ours.
